Our Family

Bird House Ranch is a multi-ethnic family owned and operated cattle ranch located in the sunny scenic hills of Livermore, California. We each have unique business backgrounds and very many talents, but the one thing that is the same is our need to know where are food comes from.

Our ranch sit son just over 240 acres of undeveloped land. Here we pasture raise criollo cattle year round, where they are free to roam and graze. We have a deep love for our land and have made careful and mindful decisions to preserve its beauty right down to the breed of cow we have selected to raise

Our Cows

In our family we care very much about what we are feeding ourselves and our children which is what set us on this journey. Our cattle are of smaller breed called Criollo. The breed originated in Spain and was brought to the US in the late 1400’s.

The Criollo Cow also known as the “Green Cow”. Anecdotal evidence shows they eat more shrubs and tougher grasses leaving native plants to flourish overall improving the land.

They are a hardy smaller self sufficient breed with a docile temperment
